The Navara Mill project is in Kettering, Northamptonshire — a purpose-built gluten-free processing facility at significant scale. With major retailers including Marks & Spencer and Waitrose pushing for supply, demand for their product is exceptionally high.
NEC Ltd were appointed to deliver the complete electrical and safety installation across the facility. Given the scale of the build, six electrical contractors were coordinated on site simultaneously — with specialist German machinery installed by the client's own equipment supplier working in parallel.
Across the full build programme, our teams delivered a full low voltage distribution network, life-safety systems, and data infrastructure across every zone of the building.
Scope of Works
What We Delivered
The electrical and safety package covered every aspect of the facility — from primary LV distribution to life-safety systems and data infrastructure.
Fire Alarm Systems
Addressable fire detection and alarm systems installed throughout the building to BS 5839, ensuring life-safety compliance across the entire production and administration areas.
Small Power
Comprehensive small power distribution throughout the facility, serving production machinery, office areas, plant rooms, and specialist equipment supplied by the German machinery contractor.
LV Distribution
Design and installation of the complete low voltage distribution network, including switchgear, distribution boards, and cable management systems serving a building of significant scale.

Large industrial projects bring coordination challenges that smaller sites simply don't. At Navara Mill, multiple contractors were working across the facility simultaneously — each with their own programmes and access requirements.
NEC Ltd managed our scope tightly across the two-year build, maintaining clean cable containment routes, structured LV distribution layouts, and coordinated commissioning of all life-safety systems. The 3D Navisworks model used during design ensured clashes were resolved on screen before they became problems on site.
The result: a fully commissioned facility ready to meet the extraordinary demand for premium gluten-free products — and a further example of NEC Ltd's ability to deliver complex electrical packages on programme and to specification.
